MARITIME HERITAGE SOCIETY
AWARDED GRANT FROM
INSTITUTE OF MUSEUM AND LIBRARY SERVICES
Thanks to a $21, 680 grant from the federal Institute of Museum and
Library Services (IMLS), the bone collection of the Maritime Heritage
Society will be re-housed in new shelving units at the Mel Fisher Museum.
According to museum director Madeleine
Burnside, the grant will also
be matched with $34,183 in funds to conduct a comprehensive
environmental monitoring program for all the museum ~ s resources.
"We are so pleased to be recognized at the federal level for our
programs," Burnside said. "This funding will help us to protect our
resources for both research purposes and public viewing."
IMLS is a federal
grant making agency in Washington, D.C., that
fosters leadership, innovation, and a lifetime of learning by supporting
museums and libraries. |
