FIELD TRIPS

Teachers receive a free pass for a pre-field trip visit and a pre/post visit education guide

PROGRAMS
All programs are experiential in nature and designed to provide students with multiple entry points into the subject matter. programs aligned with Sunshine State Standards for grades 3 - 5, but are adaptable for older and younger students. When you place your reservation, the education department will work to individualize programs to your students needs.

DIVE IN: AN EXPLORATION OF UNDERWATER ARCHAEOLOGY

Through recovering objects from an on-land mock shipwreck, investigating artifacts in our conservation lab, and completeing artifact research within the exhibits, students work to answer these questions: How do scientists work to unlock the mysteries of a shipwreck? What can be learned by studying shipwrecks?

SPANISH EMPIRE

What factors allowed Spain to become the dominant super-power? What are the modern-day manifestations of Spain's reign? Students will explore theses questions as they recreate trade routes, investigate the economic and trade value of our artifacts, and interpret artwork.

INDEPENDENT RESEARCH

Prior to your museum visit, your class will receive a CD containing a PowerPoint presentation outlining the different research options. Students use accompanying research forms to plan and individualize their museum visit.

AFFINITY GROUPS

Do you have a small group (6 or less) of students interested in doing research on maritime history, colonialism, Spain, or archaeology? Call the education department to arrange an independent research time for their students.
